In short

Where is VIS Mountain located?

VIS Mountain has seven offices: Oak Brook, Elmhurst and Downers Grove in Illinois, Dallas in Texas, Tampa in Florida, and Beverly Hills and San Francisco in California. The headquarters is at 700 Commerce Drive, Ste 500, Oak Brook, IL 60523.

Every location is by appointment only, including the headquarters, and none of them takes walk-ins. In-person meetings run 8:00am to 6:00pm, while the service itself is available 24 hours virtually. Clients are taken across the United States, not only in the metros around these addresses.

Seven addresses, four states.

Each office page covers the market it sits in: who competes there, what the local search picture looks like, and the industries that cluster around it. Every one of these is by appointment only.

Why an address matters

Local search rewards proximity, and nothing can fake it.

Google publishes three inputs for local results: relevance, distance and prominence. Two of those can be worked on. One cannot, and understanding which is which saves a lot of wasted money.

Relevance is how well a business profile matches what somebody searched for. That is workable: the primary category, the services listed, the detail on the profile and the content on the site all feed it, and most profiles are leaving a surprising amount of it unused.

Read the full breakdown: Local search rewards proximity, and nothing can fake it.4 more paragraphsHide the full breakdown: Local search rewards proximity, and nothing can fake it.

Prominence is how well known a business is, which Google describes in terms of how many sites link to it and how many reviews it has. That is workable too, though slowly, and it is the part that compounds over years rather than weeks.

Distance is how far a business is from the person searching. Nobody can optimise that, buy it, or work around it with clever markup. It is the reason a plan built entirely on ranking for a city you have no presence in is a plan built on sand.

Which does not mean you can only be found where your pin is. It means the strategy has to be honest about the boundary: near the address, proximity does much of the work and the job is not to squander it. Further out, the job is prominence and relevance doing enough to overcome the distance penalty, plus paid search covering what organic cannot reach yet.

That distinction is why we publish seven addresses rather than one, and why each office page describes a real market rather than a city name dropped into a template.

What practitioners rank highest

Three of the top five are about where you are.

Whitespark's 2026 Local Search Ranking Factors study asked 47 local search practitioners to score 187 factors. The scores below are from that study, and they make the geography point better than any argument could.

225proximity of address to the point of search
213physical address in the city being searched
189business open at the time of the search

SourceWhitespark, Local Search Ranking Factors 2026, 47 practitioners, 187 factors

This is a practitioner survey rather than a look inside Google's algorithm, so treat the exact scores as informed opinion. The direction is consistent with what Google itself publishes, and with what anyone who has watched a map pack from two different street corners already knows.

How far an office reaches

Each office serves the metro around it.

A service radius is not a marketing boundary. It is a description of where proximity is helping and where it has stopped helping.

A service area around an office: strong proximity close in, a widening band where prominence has to carry the work, and the paid layer covering what organic cannot reach yet.

Close to the pin, a well-run profile with the right primary category and a steady review flow will usually hold a map pack position without heroics. The work there is mostly not breaking things: correct categories, correct hours, correct address formatting, and no keyword stuffing in the business name, which violates Google's representation guidelines and risks suspension.

In the middle band, proximity is no longer decisive and prominence starts to matter more than anything else. That is where content, citations, links and review volume earn their keep, and where two businesses with identical profiles end up ranking very differently.

Beyond that, organic local visibility gets genuinely hard and paid search is often the honest answer for the next year while the slower work builds. We would rather say that than sell an organic plan for a city forty minutes away and explain the flat numbers in month seven.

For businesses with several locations, the additional complication is self-competition: locations fighting each other for the same searches because they were set up as copies rather than as distinct entities with their own pages, profiles and review streams. Each additional location is $150 a month added to an existing bundle, for exactly this reason. It is separate work, not a duplicate of the first one, and it is not sold on its own.

The service-area pages under each office exist to map that middle band honestly. A town twenty minutes from an office is not the same commercial proposition as the town the office sits in, and a page that pretended otherwise would be both misleading and, in search terms, useless. Each one describes the market as it actually is: who else is competing there, what the demand looks like, and whether organic visibility is realistically winnable from the nearest address or whether paid coverage is the sensible answer for now.

Where two of our offices sit close together, as the three Illinois locations do, their service areas overlap and that is fine. Overlapping coverage is a problem for a business whose own locations are cannibalising each other, not for an agency deciding which team is closest to a client. What matters is that each published page corresponds to a market somebody has actually looked at.

Why the details matter

One correct record, and every directory agreeing with it.

For a business with a physical address, the most common quiet problem is that the internet disagrees about where it is.

One correct record, and the listings that disagree brought back into lineOn the left, one correct business record: a name, an address and a ten digit phone number. Lines run from it to six directory entries stacked on the right: Google Business Profile, Apple Maps, Bing Places, Yelp, Nextdoor and Foursquare. Three of them disagree with the record. Apple Maps shows the last four digits of the phone number wrong, Yelp shows an old address with a line struck through it, and Foursquare shows the middle three digits wrong, and each of those carries a chip reading mismatch with a cross. As a copy of the record travels along the line and reaches each entry, its wrong fields are replaced with the correct ones and its chip changes to corrected with a tick, with a green bracket under the part that changed. At rest three entries read matched and the three that were wrong read corrected.
A single correct name, address and phone record on the left. On the right, directory entries that disagreed with it are corrected as the record reaches them, so every place quoting your details says the same thing.
What a location program covers

What we run for each address.

Whether that is one office or fourteen, each location is treated as its own entity, because that is how search treats it.

  • Google Business Profile claimed, verified and fully completed for that address
  • Primary and secondary categories chosen against what the location actually does
  • Consistent name, address and phone across every listing that carries them
  • A page on your site that belongs to that location rather than a duplicate of another
  • Local landmarks, neighbourhoods and service areas described honestly, not templated
See the full checklist: What we run for each address.3 more itemsHide the full checklist: What we run for each address.
  • A review stream for that location, collected first-party and responded to
  • Location-level tracking, so you can see which address produced which enquiry
  • Local business structured data matching the address exactly as it is published

Additional locations are $150 a month each, added to an existing bundle. The first location is included in the bundle price, and the add-on is not available without a bundle.

How people search locally

The map is a starting point, not an afterthought.

BrightLocal's consumer research describes how a local search actually unfolds, and two findings matter more than the rest for a business with a physical address.

A search that starts inside a maps app never sees your website, your ads or your carefully written homepage. It sees your profile, your photos, your rating and your reviews. That is the entire shop window for a meaningful share of your local audience.

A distinction that matters

An office in the city, or a service area business.

These are two different things in Google's eyes and they behave differently. Getting the choice wrong is one of the most common reasons a profile struggles or gets suspended.

Our seven offices are real addresses. They are by appointment only, which we state on every page that shows one, because describing an appointment-only office as open to the public would be inaccurate and Google's guidelines are specific about this.

For multi-location businesses

Four locations is not one location four times.

The pattern we see most often is a group that grew by acquisition, inherited four different profile setups, and now has locations quietly cannibalising each other.

  1. Audit every profile and listing

Duplicates, unclaimed profiles, wrong categories, old phone numbers and addresses that do not match the sign on the door. This stage usually finds more than anybody expected.

  2. Give each location its own page

A real page with that location's team, services, hours, parking, neighbourhood and reviews. Not a copy with the city name swapped, which search engines are good at recognising and users are better at.

  3. Separate the review streams

Reviews belong to the location that earned them. Pooling them centrally loses the local signal, and it also loses the specific, useful information a reader is actually looking for.

  4. Report by location

Calls, forms and bookings attributed to the address that produced them, so you can see which location is underperforming and why rather than reading a group average that hides both.

Visiting an office

How the appointment-only model actually works.

Appointment only is not a euphemism for an empty room. It means the people you would want to see are booked to be there, rather than whoever happens to be at a desk when you arrive.

  1. Pick a time, then tell us the office

The booking calendar shows real availability rather than a promise about how soon somebody can see you. Choose a slot, then say which office suits and roughly how far you are travelling. If the people you need are better placed elsewhere, we will say so rather than letting you drive to the wrong building.

  2. We confirm who will be in the room

Usually a senior strategist, and where the conversation warrants it the specialist for whichever channel is the actual problem. You will know who is coming before you set off, which matters if you are bringing a partner or a practice manager who has questions of their own.

  3. Come between 8:00am and 6:00pm

That is the in-person window at every location including the headquarters. There is no reception desk taking walk-ins at any of them, so an unannounced visit will not find anybody able to help, which is why we say it plainly on every page that shows an address.

  4. You leave with something written

Whatever was agreed goes into writing afterwards, so somebody who was not in the room can read it and understand what is being proposed. Meeting in person does not mean the detail lives only in people's memories of the conversation.

Most clients never visit an office and nothing about the work depends on it. Enquiries, forms, chat and follow-up run around the clock, working sessions happen remotely at whatever cadence you prefer, and the shared hub means nothing waits on somebody being in a particular building on a particular day.

Where an address is quoted

Every one of these holds a copy of your details.

Each of these platforms stores your name, address and phone number, and several of them feed each other. A stale suite number on one of them can survive for years and quietly contradict the rest.

Visiting and availability

By appointment only, at every office.

Every VIS Mountain office is by appointment only, including the headquarters in Oak Brook. We do not take walk-ins at any location. In-person meetings run 8:00am to 6:00pm, and the office you meet at is whichever one suits you, which is not necessarily the one nearest your business.

The service itself is available 24 hours virtually, which is what our published availability reflects. Enquiries, forms and chat are received around the clock, and the booking calendar shows real availability rather than a promise about how quickly somebody can see you.

Read the full breakdown: By appointment only, at every office.4 more paragraphsHide the full breakdown: By appointment only, at every office.

Most of this work happens remotely, and most clients prefer it that way. Working sessions run weekly or monthly at your cadence, and a shared hub holds requests, approvals and questions so nothing depends on somebody being in a particular building on a particular day.

If you would rather talk to a person before booking anything, the main line is (708) 669-9666 and each office page carries its own direct number. Dallas, Tampa and the two California offices have their own lines, which is worth using if you are in those time zones.

We work with clients well beyond these four states. The offices exist because local search genuinely rewards a local presence and because some clients want to sit in a room occasionally, not because we decline work elsewhere.

One note on why the published availability and the meeting window differ. Enquiries, forms, chat and automated follow-up genuinely run around the clock, which is what the availability on this site reflects. A person sitting in a room to meet you is a different thing, and that runs 8:00am to 6:00pm by arrangement. Publishing a single set of hours that covered both would misdescribe one of them, so we publish both and say which is which.

Questions

Straight answers.

Where is VIS Mountain's head office?

700 Commerce Drive, Ste 500, Oak Brook, IL 60523. The main number is (708) 669-9666 and the email address is hello@vismountain.com.

Like every other office, it is by appointment only and does not take walk-ins.

Can I walk into one of your offices?

No. Every office, including the headquarters, is by appointment only. In-person meetings run 8:00am to 6:00pm. Book a time and we will confirm the location, or we will meet remotely, which is what most clients choose.

Do you only work with businesses near your offices?

No. We work with clients across the United States and almost all of the work runs remotely. The seven offices are where our people are based, and they give us genuine familiarity with those markets, but they are not a boundary on who we take.

How do I rank in a city where I do not have an office?

Partly, and it takes longer. Google states that distance from the searcher is one of three inputs to local results, and nothing you publish changes how far away you are. What you can build is relevance and prominence: content that genuinely covers that area, links and mentions from sources based there, and a review stream that reflects real work done there.

Renting a virtual office to fake an address breaks Google's guidelines and risks losing the profile entirely. Paid search is usually the honest way to cover the gap while the slower work builds.

What do I get for an additional location?

Each additional location is $150 a month on top of an existing bundle, and carries its own profile management, listing consistency, location page, review handling and local search work, with reporting split by address so you can see which location is producing what.

Which office would handle my account?

The team is not divided by building. Your project manager and the specialists behind them work on your account wherever they sit, and the office matters for meeting in person and for local market familiarity rather than for who does the work.

Do the offices have different phone numbers?

Yes. The three Illinois offices share (708) 669-9666. Dallas is (945) 600-6005, Tampa is (656) 300-8055, and the two California offices share (424) 246-9766. Every number reaches the same team.
