DuPage County, Illinois
Marketing for Addison businesses
One of the largest industrial bases in DuPage County, sitting on a grid of arterials between Elmhurst and the O'Hare freight corridor. Most of the business here sells to other businesses, and that changes everything.

Does local SEO work for an industrial or B2B business in Addison?
Local SEO works differently for an Addison manufacturer or distributor than for a retailer, because buyers search for a capability rather than a nearby location, so organic depth and a clear site matter more than map pack position.
The map pack still matters for the village's consumer-facing layer: restaurants, auto service, trades, medical and dental practices and personal care along Lake Street and Army Trail Road.
VIS Mountain serves Addison from its Elmhurst office at 691 N Church Road, the nearest of our offices. There is no VIS Mountain address in Addison.
Addison ground worth naming.
An arterial grid and an industrial base. That is the honest description.
- Lake Street, US Route 20, running diagonally through the village
- Army Trail Road, the main east to west arterial across the north
- Swift Road and Rohlwing Road, Route 53, running north to south
- The industrial and distribution districts either side of those arterials
- The Elmhurst border to the south-east and the Villa Park border to the south
- Bensenville, Wood Dale and Itasca to the north, inside the O'Hare freight catchment
- Glendale Heights and Bloomingdale to the west and north-west
Nothing on that list is a shopping district, which is the most useful single fact about marketing in this village.
A grid of arterials in the north-east corner of DuPage.
Addison sits in DuPage County with Elmhurst to the south-east, Villa Park and Lombard to the south, Glendale Heights to the west, Bloomingdale to the north-west, and Wood Dale, Itasca and Bensenville to the north and north-east. Lake Street, US Route 20, runs diagonally across the village. Army Trail Road runs east to west across the north, Swift Road and Rohlwing Road, Route 53, run north to south.
The village sits inside the O'Hare freight and logistics catchment without being adjacent to the airport, which is a large part of why its industrial base developed. I-290, I-355 and the Elgin O'Hare corridor are all within reach, and the arterial grid is built for trucks rather than for pedestrians.
From the Elmhurst office at 691 N Church Road the run north-west is short, which is why Addison is served from Elmhurst rather than from Oak Brook. There is no VIS Mountain address in the village and we do not imply one.
Manufacturing, distribution and the service layer around them.
Addison carries one of the heaviest concentrations of industrial and distribution space in DuPage County. Metal fabrication, plastics and packaging, printing, machining, electronics assembly, food processing, warehousing and third-party logistics. These are businesses whose customers are purchasing managers and engineers, not consumers, and whose enquiries arrive by phone and email rather than by walk-in.
Around that sits a service economy that exists to support it: industrial suppliers, equipment repair, staffing agencies, freight brokers, commercial cleaning, uniform and safety suppliers, and the trades that maintain the buildings. Again, largely B2B, largely relationship-driven, and largely invisible to anyone measuring consumer search volume.
The consumer layer is real but smaller: restaurants and takeaways along Lake Street, auto sales and service, personal care, fitness, medical and dental practices, and the retail that serves the village's residential neighbourhoods. Addison also has a substantial Spanish-speaking population and a corresponding set of businesses that trade primarily in Spanish.
Reviews are read before anything else you publish.
Industrial buyers read specifications, so the pages that win here describe processes, materials and capacities rather than talking about service.
Rating and recency both matter, and they matter differently. BrightLocal's 2026 consumer survey found 74% of people prioritise reviews from the last three months, which means a strong profile that stopped collecting reviews is a decaying asset.
In Addison the practical question is usually who asks, and when. A request sent at the moment the work finishes performs very differently from one sent a week later by an automated system nobody set up properly.
We never gate reviews, never incentivise them and never write them. The FTC's rule banning fake reviews and testimonials took effect on 21 October 2024, and platforms remove them regardless. The slow version is the only version that holds.
What an AI Overview does to the click.
Ahrefs compared 300,000 keywords, half with AI Overviews and half without, using aggregated Search Console data from December 2023 against December 2025. This is the measured drop in click-through rate by position when an AI Overview is present.
SourceAhrefs, AI Overviews reduce clicks, 2026 update
That is a vendor study, and it measures correlation across a large sample rather than what will happen to any one site in Addison. The practical reading is that ranking first is worth less than it was, and being the source the summary quotes is worth more.
B2B buyers search for a capability, not for a place.
A purchasing manager sourcing a specific fabrication capability searches for the capability and the tolerance, not for a town. That means the map pack is largely irrelevant to them, while a site that clearly describes materials, processes, capacities, certifications and industries served is exactly what they are looking for and exactly what most industrial sites in this village do not have.
For the consumer-facing layer the usual local rules apply, with one Addison-specific twist: the village is long and the arterials carry traffic from several neighbouring municipalities, so the realistic catchment for a Lake Street business includes Elmhurst, Villa Park, Bensenville and Wood Dale rather than Addison alone.
The consumer layer on Lake Street draws from Elmhurst, Villa Park, Bensenville and Wood Dale as much as from Addison.
What actually decides the three results in the map.
Google says it ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. Those three words hide a lot of detail, and in Addison they pull in different directions. In Addison a large share of the business base sells to other businesses, and for them the map pack is a minor channel rather than the main one.
Relevance: does the profile say what you do
Primary category does most of the work, and secondary categories do the rest. A profile filed under the wrong primary category can belong to the best business in the area and still never appear for the search that matters.
Distance: where the searcher is standing
Distance is measured from the person searching, not from the centre of Addison. That is why one business can hold the map pack on one side of a commercial strip and lose it on the other.
Prominence: how known the business is elsewhere
Reviews, mentions, links, directory records and the site itself all feed prominence. It is the only one of the three you can change quickly by doing more work.
The site behind the profile
A profile with no page behind it competes with one hand tied. The page is where the categories, the area served and the actual services get explained in language a search engine and a person can both read.
Nothing in that list is a trick. It is four pieces of housekeeping that most businesses do once, badly, and then leave alone for years.
Where paid search fits next to the rest of it.
Paid and organic do different jobs and the honest answer for most businesses in Addison is that they need both, in different proportions at different times.

| Item | Paid search | Local and organic search |
|---|---|---|
| How quickly it can start producing | Immediately | Weeks to months |
| What happens when you stop paying | It stops | It decays slowly |
| Useful for testing which messages work | Yes | No |
| Useful for urgent and same-day demand | Yes | No |
| Cost per enquiry over time | Roughly flat | Falls as the work compounds |
| Needs conversion tracking before it is worth running | Yes | Yes |
| Affected by a competitor outspending you | Directly | Indirectly |
We set call and form attribution up before any spend, because without it a paid campaign is an expensive way to learn nothing. Where the numbers do not justify paid, we will say so rather than run it.
What is fixed about Addison.
Jurisdiction, geography and commercial character.
For a business selling to other businesses, we will often recommend less local SEO and more site depth. That is the honest call here more often than not.
Who covers Addison, and how.
Addison is a service area, not an office location. The work is run from the VIS Mountain Elmhurst office, which is the nearest of our seven, and there is no VIS Mountain address in Addison. Every page on this site that shows a street address shows an office we actually have.
- The Elmhurst office runs the work, and its team is who you would deal with
- Direct line for that office: (708) 669-9666
- Support and service are available 24 hours virtually, which is what our published availability describes
- In-person meetings run 8:00am to 6:00pm local time, by appointment
- Most first conversations happen on a call or on video, and you are welcome to meet at the office instead
- Nothing needs signing at a first meeting, and you keep the findings either way
Every office is by appointment only, including the headquarters. We do not take walk-ins. We also do not publish a promised booking turnaround, because the calendar shows real availability and a written promise would go stale the week after we made it.
Start with the cheap fixes.
Most Addison businesses have two or three corrections worth more than a month of new work. The Elmhurst office will find them and tell you what they are. Meetings are by appointment, in person or on a call.
Straight answers.
Does VIS Mountain have an office in Addison?
No. Our nearest office is in Elmhurst at 691 N Church Road, Suite 203. We serve Addison from there, by appointment, and we do not claim an address in a village where we do not have one.
We are a manufacturer. Is local SEO a waste of money for us?
Partly, and we will say so. Map pack position rarely matters when your buyer is a purchasing manager in another state. What does matter is that your site explains your capabilities in the language buyers search with, and that your business is correctly represented where they check you.
We would rather sell you the right smaller scope than the wrong bigger one.
What should an industrial website actually contain?
Processes, materials, tolerances and capacities, equipment lists, certifications, industries served, minimum and maximum run sizes, and a clear way to send a drawing or a specification.
That content is also what AI assistants read when a buyer asks them to shortlist suppliers, which is an increasingly common first step.
Do I need a Spanish version of my site?
If a meaningful share of your customers search in Spanish, yes, and it should be real translated content rather than a browser widget. That applies to the consumer-facing side of the village more than to the industrial side.
How far does a Lake Street business realistically reach?
In practice into Elmhurst, Villa Park, Bensenville and Wood Dale, because the arterials carry traffic across all of them and the searches come from people in their own towns.
That argues for a small number of properly researched area pages rather than one page mentioning every nearby village.
